A teenager from Grimsby who was reported missing has been traced following a police appeal.

A search was launched after Anthony Cook 18 was spotted buying equipment, including a tent and sleeping bag at an Edinburgh camping shop on Monday.

Officers believed Mr Cook may have been camping near the Water of Leith in the Balerno area, around Heriot-Watt University or in the Pentland Hills.

In an update on Wednesday, the force said: “Further to our appeal regarding 18-year-old Anthony Cook, missing from Grimsby but believed to be in the Edinburgh area, we are pleased to report Anthony has been located.

“Thank you to everyone who shared our information.”
