Around 10,000 racegoers enjoyed Stobo Castle Ladies Day on Saturday. The professional racing was of the highest calibre and Hoofalong with Nathan Evans aboard won the most valuable race the William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup with its £100,000 prize.
The racecourse celebrated in style after collaborating with Edinburgh Fashion Week to offer attendees expert styling tips. Michelle Gardiner was crowned this year’s winner of the coveted ‘Queen of Style’ title – judged by Miss UK, Laura Russell of Satisfashion and STV’s Hayley Matthews – taking home a brand new £10,000 car, thanks to local dealership Belmont Wallyford.

Certainly those who attended had made a very special effort with all the lovely outfits on display. There was a bigger marquee this year to keep the ladies dry in case of inclement weather, extended bar areas to ensure that everyone who wanted one could get a drink and 72 new toilets to make sure of creature comforts!
Once the racing was over it was the turn of the TV personality turned DJ, Vernon Kay, who kept the party going in a packed marquee.
This year the racecourse celebrates its 200th anniversary.
Aisling Johnston, Marketing Manager at Musselburgh Racecourse, said: “Our focus for Stobo Castle Ladies Day 2016 was to invest in the customer experience ensuring we delivering a 5 star day with new initiatives to provide something memorable for our racegoers, and all indications are that it has paid off.
“Every year we attract some of the country’s best trainers, jockeys and horses, particularly for the £100,000 William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup, and provide the professional racegoer experience that attendees are looking for.
