Following reports from concerned members of the public and businesses of drug activity in the High Street and Hunter Square area of Edinburgh, plain clothes officers have been carrying out targeted patrols over a number of recent weeks.  

Eight males have now been arrested during this period for suspected organised drug activity and a search warrant has been executed at an address out with the city centre as previously posted.  

This includes a further three males last night with enquiries ongoing.  

Police patrols will continue into the New Year with both uniformed and plain clothes officers. 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:”  Enquiries are ongoing to identify any other persons involved in drug activity in the area. 

“If you have any information that can assist the police remember the Crimestoppers Contact Centre answers every contact 0800 555 111.”
