Stene Pijper, son of former Glasgow Tigers, Berwick Bandits and Edinburgh Monarchs racer, Theo Pijper, won the 125cc Support Class in the British Youth Championship, Round 4, at Armadale.

The 500cc winner in the closed-door event was Englishman Joe Thompson with his twin brother Dan second. The duo were due to line-up as reserves for Premier League champions Leicester Lions this season.

One girl, Rebecca Weston, rode in the event and she was third in the 125cc Support class.

It was the first competitive speedway event held in Scotland this year and over 30 heats were completed in two hours in glorious weather on the West Lothian track.
