After a weekend of protests throughout the country, the police operation put in place for the visit to Scotland of the President of the United States Donald Trump has now concluded.
In Edinburgh, officers estimated that 9,000 people took part in a march from the Scottish Parliament to the Meadows although organisers put the figure at 60,000.
Before leaving the parliament, the crowd listened to speeches from a number of politicians including Tommy Sheppard SNP, Richard Leonard, Leader of Scottish Labour, Alison Johnstone, Scottish Greens and Christine Jardine Liberal Democrats.
The event passed off peacefully and ended just before 4pm.
Assistant Chief Constable Mark Williams said: “This was a major and complex policing operation involving thousands of officers that impacted right across Scotland.
“Our priority throughout was to protect the President, maintain public safety and facilitate thousands of people across Scotland to exercise their right to protest peacefully.
“I would like to thank all of the officers and staff from Police Scotland and elsewhere that worked together in helping us achieve this and in particular those who took part in the protests in Glasgow, Dundee and Edinburgh for their good behaviour.”
There were two arrests in relation to the visit:
