Police are appealing for witnesses after housebreakings at two business premises and the theft of a car from a residential address in East Lothian.

A Silver Renault Megane with the registration number SB55 VXD was stolen from an address in Galt Crescent, Musselburgh at some point between 5pm on Friday 1st and 11am on Monday 4th June.

The J and L Café in Prestonpans was targeted around 1.50am on Wednesday 6th June. The café was broken into but nothing was taken.

The Spar store in Pencaitland was broken into around 2am on Wednesday 6th June. A three-figure sum of cash was taken.

Officers believe the incidents to be linked and that a dark-coloured Mercedes-type car was used by the suspects who are described as being three males dressed in dark clothing.

Anyone who saw or heard anything in these areas at these times is asked to get in contact with officers. Similarly if anyone has information that can assist officers with their inquiries, they are asked to get in contact.

Inspector Andrew Harborow of Haddington Police Station said: “We are keen to hear from anyone with information about these three suspects or the incidents themselves.

“Those with information are asked to contact us on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting incident numbers 1365 of 4th June, 0224 of 6th June and 0692 of 6th June.”
