At Waverley Mall tomorrow morning between 7.30am and 10am tomorrow Friday 15th June they are giving away 2,000 FREE reusable coffee cups to customers and commuters
Awareness of plastic pollution and the impact of that on our planet is growing mainly due to the recently broadcast series of Blue Planet II – the final episode of which called on viewers to address the issue.
Following the programme a number of popular café and restaurant chains have introduced policies to reduce plastic waste. The likes of Starbucks brought in a so-called ‘latte levy’ at the end of February with a 5p charge on takeaway coffee cups and 25p off for users of reusable cups, while Costa is selling reusable cups and offering 25p off any hot drink to users. Greggs also offers a 20p saving to customers using reusable cups.
The move by Waverley Mall to encourage its customers to be more environmentally conscious, is just one thing that the centre is doing under its new owners, Moorgarth and it hopes to put a smile on the face of customers passing through the centre during the morning rush hour period.
Jacquelyn Stewart, Centre Manager, Waverley Mall says,‘’We are thrilled to be making moves to combat, what is a massive global issue with the giveaway of our FREE reusable coffee cups at Waverley Mall. With 2,000 to give away, there are plenty to go around, but we encourage customers to get down to the centre early to avoid disappointment.’’
