Police are appealing for witnesses after a break-in at a farm which took place between midday and 3pm last Friday at Moorfoot Farm found to the south of Gladhouse Reservoir near Temple.
A thief or thieves broke into the farmhouse and stole a four-figure sum of money including Euros as well as a large quantity of jewellery, electrical equipment including laptops, and camera equipment.
The owners were not within the property at the time of the break-in.
Local officers are now carrying out various lines of inquiry in an effort to trace those responsible and want to hear from anyone who has information or who saw a blue car that was travelling in the area.
Sergeant Michele Lindsay of Bonnyrigg police station said: “From our early inquiries we believe that there may have been a blue coloured Fiat Punto in the area around the time of this break-in. Today, I appeal to anyone who saw this vehicle or if you were the occupant of this car to please come forward as soon as possible.
“Similarly, I appeal to anyone who has information relating to this incident to contact police immediately.
“A number of valuable items were stolen from this property and I would urge anyone who has been approached to buy second hand goods that they believe may have been stolen to let police know.”
Those with relevant information should contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
