Edinburgh’s dedicated housebreaking officers have charged another person as they continue to carry out Operation RAC activity across the city.

Between 4th June and the 18th June, 16 break-ins occurred at homes in Canongate, Holyrood Road, Guthrie Street, Montgomery Street and Campbells Close.

Following continued enquiries into these incidents a 20-year-old man was detained a in Blackett Place yesterday and was subsequently charged.

Chief Superintendent Mark Williams said: “This is another terrific arrest as part of Operation RAC as my officers continue their relentless pursuit of housebreakers.

“Our communities can rest assured that housebreaking is my top priority and we have significant resources in place to support local officers.

“I would again remind the public to help us tackle housebreaking by ensuring their homes and businesses are always appropriately secured. Crime prevention advice is available by visiting www.scotland.police.uk.”
