Police are keen to ensure the welfare of a man who was seen close to Mortonhall Golf Club following a report of concern from members of the public.

The gentleman had been walking on a footpath between Buckstone and the golf club sometime between 4pm and 6pm yesterday afternoon.

A couple walking in the area approached the man after noticing that he was staggering and appeared to be lost. They assisted him for a short distance before he sat down near Mortonhall Golf Club. They then left and contacted the emergency services.

Officers and specialist units carried out a detailed search of the area but were unable to locate the male.

He is described as being in his 40’s, around 5ft 10inches tall, slim build with a thin face and light brown hair. He was wearing a grey coloured jacket, a dark sweatshirt, dark trousers, grey shoes and carrying a black rucksack.

Anyone who can assist police with their ongoing efforts is asked to come forward.

Inspector Alan Bowie said: “At the moment we don’t know what condition he is in and I ask the public, or indeed the man himself, to please get in touch to let us know if he is okay.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
