Police are appealing for assistance from the public after prescription medication was lost in the Capital.

A woman contacted police earlier today to report mis-placing a black toiletry bag containing quantities of high-strength painkillers and sleeping pills.

The medication was lost somewhere between the Cowgate and Waverly station sometime from 1pm to 7pm yesterday.

Anyone who comes across the bag or the tablets is asked to hand it in to the nearest police station.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The medication should not be consumed by anyone other than the prescribed user.

“Anyone who finds these items should contact police immediately on 101.”
