The national agency for sport in Scotland, SportScotland , are looking forward to next year’s Commonwealth Games. They have set themselves the goal of rolling out Community Sports Hubs across Scotland so that people have many local opportunities to take part in sport using proper facilities with professionally trained coaches, and at a reasonable cost.

What does this mean for Broughton HS?
The aim of the initiative is to bring sport and physical activity into one place in the local community and give it a home. Local community sports clubs will work in partnership with feeder primary schools, PE departments and Active Schools to provide more opportunities for pupils and young people to participate in more sport and physical activity. They will become an integral part of school life, supporting curriculum delivery, extra curricular programmes and school teams to encourage pupils to develop an interest in the sports and activities available within the Broughton community as well as adopting more active and healthier lives.
How can my club become a Community Sports Hub club and access facilities at Broughton HS?
In order to ensure we are engaging with appropriate clubs, i.e. those who would like to work with local pupils and young people and develop junior sections within their club, those interested in becoming CSH clubs and accessing the facilities are asked to submit a proposal form. This will detail their current involvement in the local community and how this can be developed to benefit both the community and the club itself. It is important that clubs can deliver on what they are proposing and that there is the expertise, time and resources within the club to do this.
