Nisbet

At the High Court in Edinburgh today, Kieryn Nisbet was found guilty of murdering 67-year-old Ronnie Simpson at his property in Mayfield Drive, Armadale on 6th October 2012.

The 21-year-old was unknown to his victim and carried out the attack after being ejected from a nearby pub earlier that evening.

Following the discovery of Mr Simpson’s body, police in West Lothian launched a major investigation and Nisbet was subsequently identified and charged with murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Robert Cowper, who led the investigation, said: “While nothing can undo the pain and suffering Mr Simpson’s loss has had on his family and the impact in the local community, I hope that today’s verdict can allow the family to move forward from this ordeal.’

“Mr Simpson was a well-known local and the attack within his own home was a callous act, which Kieryn Nisbet has never offered any explanation for.”

Nisbet will be sentenced on Friday 11th October.
