Fatal Accident Inquiry
A Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) has been set for 11 April at Edinburgh Sheriff Court into the death of Xander Irvine who was three when the driver of a car, Edith Duncan drove into him and killed him. Xander’s mother Victoria was also hurt in the incident which took place on Morningside Road.
Mrs Duncan was subsequently charged by police but died before any trial was held following the incident in June 2020.

Webinar for Fearless Women
Girls from Edinburgh are being given the opportunity to be inspired by successful women in a free online webinar series. They are invited to a series of talks from women who are highly regarded in their respective industries. On 19 March at 6pm, the guest speaker in the “Fearless Women” webinar series is Christine Middlemiss, Chief Veterinary Officer of the United Kingdom who will be hosted by St George’s School in Edinburgh to coincide with 150 years of the Girls’ Schools Association.
Professor Middlemiss leads the government’s animal health policy, and is at the forefront of outbreak response and other animal related health issues. She leads the exotic animal disease outbreak response for England, and advises on the necessary programmes to control and eradicate disease where possible. Professor Middlemiss also negotiates on behalf of the UK government, representing her country in Europe and further afield.
At the end of the webinar, students will have the opportunity to ask Professor Middlemiss questions about her career and achievements to date.
