SGB Championship: Berwick Bandits 58, Eastbourne Eagles 32; Leicester Lions 46, Glasgow Tigers 44
Skipper Kevin Doolan (pictured) and Cory Garcia both collected ten points as Berwick dented Eastbourne Eagles’ play-off challenge with a comfortably 58-32 victory.
Berwick were 17-13 ahead after five races but three 4-2 heat scores plus a 5-1 in Heat 10 saw them move comfortably ahead at 37-23.
And they finished off the South Coast side with back-to-back 5-1 heat wins in the final two races.
Nick Morris, Eagles’ guest, was best for Eastbourne with 11 points.
Elsewhere, Craig Cook and Rasmus Jensen both collected 12 points but SGB Championship hopefuls Glasgow Tigers still slipped to a 46-44 defeat at current leaders Leicester Lions.
The Scots led 11-7 after three races and 18-12 after five heats but Lions roared back with a 5-1 in Heat Eight followed by a 4-2 in the next race.
And a 5-1 in Heat Ten saw Lions move 32-28 ahead and 4-2 scorelines in Heats 13 and 14 sealed the narrow in despite a 5-1 from Tigers courtesy of Cook and Jensen in the last race.
Former Great Britain rider Scott Nicholls was best for the home side with 11 points and Ryan Douglas collected ten points.
