Barratt Homes East Scotland held its fourth annual corporate golf day recently raising £20,000 for its charity of the year – HopScotch.
The event was held at the Bruntsfield Links Golfing Society, which, and although the course is currently undergoing reconstruction, it was no problem for the 84 assembled builders who took part.
The event was attended by contractors and suppliers of Barratt Homes and was won by Edinburgh based POD Joiners.

Over thirty businesses contributed to the success of the event by donating prizes and money as well as participating in the competition. £10,000 was raised from the event alone and this was matched by Barratt Homes who donated a further £10,000. All funds from the event will go directly to HopScotch.
Event organiser and finance director at Barratt Homes East Scotland, Richard Phillips said: “Our annual golf event kicks off a year of fundraising at Barratt Homes and this year we are delighted to be supporting HopScotch. It’s fantastic to have got off to such a strong start. To raise £20,000 in just one day is phenomenal and I’d like to thank all those involved. Well done to POD Joiners for outperforming everyone else on the day.
“It is important to the team at Barratt Homes East Scotland that we give back to those in the local communities in which we operate. As a company we collectively decide which charity to support and the important services that HopScotch provide really resonated with us all – we hope the funds can be put to a very good use.”
HopScotch has been operating for 20 years providing respite care to some of Scotland’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. The charity provides children with a nurturing and dynamic holiday at its converted ghillie-lodge Ardvullin, which is situated in Ardgour on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula.

For 19 years HopScotch has been providing respite breaks for children at Ardvullin. Children who come from challenging home circumstances arrive at Ardvullin to experience a whole range of new and exciting activities as part of their respite break. For many it’s their first time away from home and may be the first holiday they’ve ever had. The £20,000 sum raised by Barratt will make an amazing difference to us as we continue our work with some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children.”
