Police are appealing for witnesses after a 45-year-old man was seriously assaulted in Camps Rigg in the Carmondean area of Livingston just after midnight this morning.

The victim, who had been in Raeburn Rigg a short time earlier suffered a serious head injury and was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the Western General.

A 41 year old male was arrested and charged in connection with this incident and will appear at Livingston Sheriff Court on Tuesday 17th July.

Detective Sergeant Lee McCall from Livingston CID said: “This was a violent attack that has left the victim with a serious head injuries. I would ask anyone who was within the Camp Rigg or Raeburn Rigg area in the early hours of this morning who witnessed what happened, or saw anything suspicious, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
