Gary Havelock believes Berwick Bandits rode better than the score suggests at high-flying Ipswich Witches.

The team manger saw his men go down 56-36 and Bandits face another stiff test on Saturday when Edinburgh Monarchs visit (tapes up 7pm).

And Havelock said: “All the guys had their moments at Ipswich and they got dug in.

“Witches are a good side and they’re not in the top two for nothing so we were right up against it to get a result.

“Saying that, we looked the part.”

Nick Morris top scored with 13 points for Bandits with skipper Kevin Doolan chipping in with seven.

Top rider for Witches was former Monarchs racer Rory Schlein on 14 points followed by guest Lewis Kerr on 13 and Kyle Newman with 11.
