Nike Lunna, who helped Glasgow Tigers win the Knockout Cup last season, is back on track with his team-mates in their SGB Championship opener against Scunthorpe on Saturday (7pm).

The 20-year-old said: “We had a practice on Saturday and I felt really good on the bike. I made some good starts too.

“Everything is brand new for me this season. I’ve got two new engines as well.

“It’s hard to say if they’re faster but everything is working how it should be and that’s making the difference.

“My first priority is to stay in one piece this season – no injuries – and after that, I can build up my confidence, get my average higher and maybe get some offers from the Premiership clubs.

“Most importantly, I want to help the Tigers win the league.”

Glasgow have shifted from Sunday afternoons to Saturday nights as they build on the £2m revamp of their facilities since 2014, including upgraded floodlights for this season.

Lunna said: “I’ve seen our new lights and it’ll be like racing during the day because they’re so good.

“The track is going to be better too and I think we will get more people watching us.”
