A 40-year-old man was threatened at knifepoint as he was walking on a footpath in Eskside East, Musselburgh around 4pm last Thursday.

The victim struggled with the robber and refused to give him any personal items.

The suspect fled the scene empty handed and  is described as white, between 5ft 8in and 6ft 2in with a medium build and light brown hair in a ponytail.

He is believed to have been wearing blue jeans and a dark t-shirt.

Detective constable Jordan Sharp said: “The victim did not require any medical attention following this incident but was left very shaken and upset as a result.

“Anyone who was around the Eskside East area or the Electric Bridge on Thursday afternoon last week and remembers seeing anything suspicious should contact police immediately.

“We would also ask that anyone who recognises the description of the suspect and who can help us identify him also gets in touch.”
