The 14-year-old who died following a collision on Silverknowes Road has been named as Brad Williamson.
The collision took place around 4pm on Friday (June 10) and involved a white Vertigo motorcycle and a black Toyota Aygo.
Brad, the driver of the motorbike, was taken to the Sick Kids but sadly died the following morning.
His passenger, also aged 14, was taken to the Sick Kids with serious but none life-threatening injuries.
The 39-year-old driver of the Aygo was uninjured.
PC Declan Fitzpatrick of Edinburgh’s Road Policing Unit said: “Our enquiries continue into this collision and our thoughts remain with Brad’s family and friends at what is an incredibly difficult time for them.
“We’d ask any witnesses who have not yet come forward to get in touch.
“We’re still working to trace the driver of a white Mercedes limousine-style car which was travelling north on Silverknowes Road at the time, and who may be able to assist.”
The road was reopened around 9.45pm and the public are thanked for their patience during this time.
