Yes it has finally arrived. The day when you cast your vote in the EU Referendum.

Whether you are Leave or Remain, Stay or Go it has been a bit of an epic journey.

The referendum asks you to vote on the following question.

Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?

Each campaign organisation also has a page on their website that gives their view on what will happen after the referendum outcome.

Read arguments to remain  on the Stronger In website.

Edinburgh’s elections staff have set up for the vote across the city’s 145 polling places. Around 650 people are employed as polling staff on the day, while a further 550 will work at the count tonight.

Just under 346,000 people are registered to vote in Edinburgh – 79,000 of these have applied to vote by post. As of Monday, 20 June, almost 57,000 postal voters had already returned their vote.

Voting for the EU Referendum is open between 7am and 10pm on Thursday, 23 June.

Meadowbank Sports Centre will be temporarily closed for the events taking place from 23 – 25 June,  meaning that some areas of Meadowbank will be closed prior and following the events for set up and ‘break-down’.

The events taking place are the Referendum count, which will be taking place on Thursday, 23 June,  followed by the Sir Elton John concert on Saturday, 25 June.

Jo Mathieson, Venue Manager at Meadowbank said: “We realise that the temporary closures will inconvenience some of our customers but our members will be upgraded to a full fitness membership from Sunday, 11 June until Sunday, 26 June inclusive, which will allow them to use all of Edinburgh Leisure’s other facilities across the city for a gym, swim or fitness class visit, meaning they can continue to stay active with us.

“With 10 swimming pools, 15 gyms, and over 700 fitness classes per week, Edinburgh Leisure really is the biggest club in town and it will be the perfect opportunity to experience all the other wonderful facilities we have across the city.”

We are off to the Royal Highland Show today. Are you? Tweet us your photos if you are!

The organisers expect that over  £8million will be spent on shopping over the four days of this year’s Royal Highland Show (23-26 June).

With the main shopping arcade receiving a makeover, attracting even more luxury retailers, the 2016 Show will be a ‘shoppers paradise’ for the 200,000 visitors expected to attend the Royal Highland Centre.

Following on from last year’s successful rebranding of the food hall – now known as Scotland’s Larder Live! – the 13thAvenue Shopping Arcade will become a lifestyle shopping destination featuring top UK brands, award winning artists and designers. With more space and a boutique feel, the new Arcade will also boast a bar where shoppers can enjoy a well-earned rest with a glass of bubbles.

With over 1,100 trade stands across the showground, Scotland biggest celebration of the best in farming, food and rural life, which attracted record visitor numbers in 2015, will give keen shoppers the chance to snap up some of the biggest brands in country inspired fashion, such as Barbour, Hunter, Fairfax & Favor, Joules and Dubarry.

When the shopping is finished, the 2016 Show will boast two new themed bars to discover. For gin lovers, the Botanical Garden will be offering up a wide range of artisan Scottish gins to savour and appreciate. Run by Hickory, an Edinburgh company with a track record for delivering exquisite events and renowned for its creative flair, this bar will be a highlight for anyone who visits.

For those looking for something a bit different, the Country Music Bar will not disappoint. The second of the Show’s new themed bars, this lively venue will feature live country bands and possibly even line dancing, offering something completely different for showgoers.

Show Manager David Jackson said: “The Show is undeniably a destination for the best livestock, the best food and also for the best shopping – we are pulling out all the stops to make sure that this remains. The investment we’ve made in the 13thAvenue Arcade, and in installing high speed broadband around the showground, illustrates that we are committed to improving facilities year on year for our exhibitors, for whom the Show is very important. 38% of our visitors rank shopping as the main reason for visiting and we know that 55% of them spent at least £100 at our trade stands, with 22% of them spending up to £1,000.”

The Royal Bank of Scotland, partner since 1981, continues to support the Show and the agricultural industry in Scotland.
