2011_10 Police signs 12

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 57-year-old man sustained numerous injuries during an attack by two men  in Sighthill Avenue around 9.45pm on Tuesday evening.

He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious but non-life threatening injuries and the incident is being treated as attempted murder.

The first suspect is described as a white man with a tanned complexion, aged around 40 years old, 5ft 10 inches tall and of slim build.

He had grey curly hair, a grey goatee/moustache, was wearing dark jogging bottoms, a blue top with orange arms and using a walking stick.

The second suspect is described as a white man with a gaunt complexion, aged 30 – 35 years old, 6ft tall with a medium build.

He had dark hair and was wearing jeans and a blue padded jacket.

Detective Sergeant Andrina Cunningham of Corstorphine CID: “This was a violent and sustained attack which we’re currently treating as attempted murder.

“We’d urge anyone who may have seen this, or recognises the descriptions of the suspects, to get in touch as soon as possible.

“The two men were seen shortly beforehand talking to a woman on the grass near the junction with Calder Road, who we’re also eager to speak to.”
