Police have issued images from CCTV footage in their efforts to trace a man injured in the city in the early hours of this morning.
He was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to have a facial injury treated around 5.30 am this morning – Friday 1st January 2016 and was seen by a nurse.
However he left before being seen by a doctor at around 6.50 am and staff are concerned for his welfare.
Officers are now keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help trace this man.
He gave the name Scott Thom to hospital staff and is described as being about 6ft tall with short brown hair.
He was wearing a white shirt with a grey cotton jumper and a black jacket, dark jeans and possibly brown boots.
He has a large lump and cuts on his left temple possible still with blood and bruising visible on his face.
Inspector Helen MacIntyre from St Leonard’s police station said: “We are keen to hear from anyone with information that can help us to trace this man since he may still need hospital treatment.
“Similarly we would ask Scott to contact us himself if he sees this appeal to let us know he is okay.”
