Police are looking to trace a man who robbed a 36-year-old woman on Tuesday night.
At around 9pm the male approached the lone female as she walked towards her car, which was parked in Restalrig Gardens near Lochend House.
He proceeded to threaten the woman before stealing her mobile phone and making off on foot.
The victim, although shaken, was unharmed and an extensive police investigation is now underway.
The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall with a slim build and wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up. He spoke with an Edinburgh accent and wore a dark coloured scarf partially covering his face and dark coloured trousers, possibly jeans.
Anyone who can assist police with their ongoing inquiries is asked to come forward.
Detective Constable John McShane, who is leading the investigation, said: “We would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw the incident to come forward.
“In particular, we want to speak with anyone who spoke with the female immediately after the attack.
“We also appeal to anyone who recognises the description of the culprit or who saw any unusual behaviour in the area around the time of this offence to contact the police immediately.”
Those with information are asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
