Two men have plead guilty to assault and culpable homicide following the death of a 31-year-old Robbie Morrison, which occurred in Edinburgh last year.
Colin Craig (46) was found guilty of assault and Kristian Nelson (37) was found guilty of culpable homicide at Edinburgh High Court today (Wednesday, May 13).
Mr Morrison was stabbed and fatally wounded during a daylight attack in Dumbryden Gardens in Wester Hailes on Friday, August 22. He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh but passed away a short time later.
Craig and Nelson initially denied any involvement in the killing but detectives from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team carried out significant enquiry before arresting and charging both men.
Both men have also plead guilty to attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Following the trial verdict, Detective Chief Inspector Gary Cunningham of the Major Investigation Team said: “This was a senseless and brutal attack that resulted in the tragic death of Robbie Morrison.
“Today’s verdict brings an end to what was an significant investigation for the Major Investigation Team.”
“Robbie’s family have had to endure tremendous anguish and distress as a result of the despicable actions of Craig and Nelson.
“Although nothing can undo their wicked actions I hope today’s verdict will provide some sense of closure for Robbie’s friends and family.”
Colin Craig and Kristian Nelson will be sentenced at a later date.
