Hibs’ longest serving player Lewis Stevenson (pictured) has compared the squad’s training camp in Spain with a similar trip ahead of the 2007 CIS League Cup and hopes that the outcome is the same.

On that occasion Hibs went on to defeat Kilmarnock to lift the trophy with Stevenson named Man of the Match.

Speaking to Hibs TV from La Manga, Stevenson said: “When we went away to Spain before the League Cup Final, it was for exactly the same reasons – to get away from everything at home and to prepare correctly.

“The training facilities here are excellent and the food has been brilliant – everybody is working hard and eating healthily.

“I’m sure we will see the benefits when we go back and when the play-offs start.”

Stevenson praised the club’s supporters and is determined to experience play-off glory in front of a full Easter Road.

He added: “It would be brilliant to do that. There were times in the past where we almost dreaded playing at home because of the way things were going.

“But now everyone is buzzing to play at Easter Road. The fans have made a massive difference this season – they’ve been behind us from start to finish.

“It would be special if we could get a full house and then it’s up to us to put on a show and win.”
