Police  are appealing for witnesses following the assault of a woman in the early hours of Tuesday last week (10th March).

The incident happened around 1am when a 21-year-old woman was assaulted as she walked with a man along Dundee Street near to the Kwik Fit garage.

Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward, particularly a female cyclist who intervened.

The suspect is described as a Spanish man, early 20s, short black hair, medium build, wearing a light-coloured sweatshirt with a prominent design on the chest.

Detective Sergeant Keith Mailer said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who saw this assault or who has information that can help us trace the suspect.

“We’re particularly keen to speak to a female cyclist who intervened.”

Police are asking that the female cyclist, or anyone else with information, contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
