Hibs’ under-20s beat Dunfermline Athletic under 20s 3-2 at Ainslie Park last night.
Goals from Sam Stanton (pictured), Taylor Hendry and Neil Martyniuk looked to have sealed the victory but the ‘Pars’ fought back scoring two late goals.
After the game, Hibs’ Under 20 Development Coach Joe McBride told the club website:
“I think when we got the third goal some of them thought the game was well and truly over, which they found out it definitely wasn’t.
“Dunfermline put us under a bit of pressure, we didn’t stop crosses and didn’t defend crosses well enough and almost paid the price.
“Hopefully that’s a lesson for them, they need to keep doing the things that got them 3-0 up in the first place.
“We got three goals from corners, which is not normally the way we score goals but I’m pleased we got something from set-plays, but I’m really disappointed with the way the game ended.”
“Creating chances is never normally an issue for us. We had chances throughout the game, but if you don’t take them and concede at the other end it’s a problem.
“But in the end the players need to be able to learn to do the horrible things in the game if you like – stop crosses and defend crosses.”
