Police in West Lothian are appealing for witnesses after a pensioner was assaulted and robbed by two women who grabbed her from behind as she walked along Jubilee Road in Whitburn at 7pm on Saturday.
They struggled with the woman and she fell to the ground when the robbers ran off with her handbag.
The women were both white, slim, between the ages of 25 and 30 and were wearing dark quilted jackets with fur, dark trousers and dark trainers.
Officers are carrying out door to door inquiries in the area and looking for CCTV.
DC Richard Thompson said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area or who may have seen the suspects. As a result of the attack the woman sustained an injury to her hand and has been left badly shaken by the incident”.
“This has been a terrible experience for the woman involved and we are appealing to members of the public for any information they may have as to who might have been responsible.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
