Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses following a road collision last night.
The incident happened around 5.35pm on the A70 Edinburgh to Lanark Road, near Harperrig Reservoir.
A Honda Civic was travelling west when it was involved in a head-on collision with a Skoda Fabia, which was travelling in the opposite direction.
The four occupants from both vehicles were all taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh after sustaining various injuries.
Road Policing Officers closed the road for several hours while they carried out enquiries at the scene.
Anyone who can assist with their ongoing investigation is asked to come forward.
Sergeant Roger Park of the National Trunk Road Patrol Group said: “I wish to thank those motorists and members of the public who stopped at the scene to assist the persons involved and who provided information to Police at the time.
“I would now appeal to anyone else who thinks they may have witnessed the incident or who perhaps think they have relevant to our enquiries to contact police immediately.”
Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101.
