Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following an assault and robbery on Bonnington Road that took place on Thursday night.

The 19-year-old victim was walking on Bonnington Road around 8pm while talking on her mobile phone. After hearing voices behind her, she turned round and saw two males then felt someone grabbing her bag from her arm. She was then struck on the shoulder and back of the head.

The two male suspects then made off with her hand bag, in the direction of Pilrig Park.

The suspects are both white and in their early 20s. The first suspect is around 5ft 7in and was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap, dark top and grey jogging bottoms, while the second suspect is around 5ft 9in, with short hair and wearing a dark coloured top.

Detective Constable Joe Perkins from Police Scotland said: “While the victim was uninjured, she was still left shaken by this robbery. We are appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or recognises the description of the suspects, to contact police.”

Police are appealing to anyone with information that can assist their inquiries to contact Police Scotland on 101, or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
