Police officers who spotted a driver holding a mobile phone both hands have tracked them down and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal 

On Friday 29 November 2024 Roads Policing officers from Dalkeith working alongside Scottish Ambulance Service and Bear attended a serious road traffic collision near to the Dreghorn Junction on the Edinburgh City Bypass. 

During this time an individual driving on the opposing carriageway passed officers holding a mobile phone with both hands having no control of the vehicles steering.  

Officers have since traced the individual who has been charged with road traffic offences and will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.  

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “This conduct places other road users at risk and will be dealt with robustly.  

“Please drive safe and wait until you have stopped driving to check and use your phone.”
