Glasgow Clan move into fifth position in the Elite League thanks to a 4-1 victory over bottom club Fife Flyers at sold-out Braehead and the pair clash again at Kirkcaldy on Sunday (17.00).

Clan won the opening session 1-0, drew the middle period 1-1 and won the third 2-0 and they opened the scoring after 66sec when Gary Haden netted.

Charlie Combs added No 2 after 31 minutes before Teemu Pulkkinen pulled one back on the power play three minutes later but Luke Lynch after 46 minutes and Cody Sol on an empty net with one second left completed the scoring.

Belfast Giants beat Dundee Stars 3-0 while Guildford Flames edged Cardiff Devils 4-3, Sheffield Steelers thrashed Manchester Storm 9-3 and Coventry Blaze beat Nottingham Panthers 4-3 after a shootout.

Meanwhile, Flyers’ No 1 goaltender, Shane Owen, has been placed on injury reserve and the club have confirmed the signing of Kevin Lindskoug as injury cover.

They have also secured the signature of 25-year-old Canadian forward Drake Pilton. It is his first season as a professional.
