We were promised a flypast on 7 August 2020 which was the 75th anniversary of VJ Day.
Sadly then the cloud base was at 800 feet which is just too low for the aeroplanes to pass over.
But tonight the weather was perfect and the planes all passed over us from Holyrood Palace all the way up to the Castle and then veering north towards the Forth.
It must have been at that point there was a bird strike and two of the planes had to make an emergency landing at Edinburgh Airport : Red 6 and Red 9.
Later one plane took off with two pilots on board leaving the other behind for some repair.
Whoo hoo! Great weather to welcome the Red Arrows back to Edinburgh pic.twitter.com/lTGsPFtcI9
