Berwick Bandits bosses have revealed that they are committed to staging live racing this summer.

That’s despite the British speedway bosses having ruled out professional racing this season earlier this week.

Berwick chiefs said they are working hard behind the scenes and they added: “We want to ensure that the fans, sponsors and riders are able to attend, enjoy and benefit from competitive live racing this year in a safe and enjoyable environment.”

A spokesman said that Shielfield Park is blessed by having a large capacity and they added: “The club feels strongly that spectators can attend our open air, non-contact events with confidence.

“Plans are currently being drawn up and your Bandits management team are keen to put together entertaining speedway in the near future.”

If racing goes ahead, Berwick Bandits pass holders will get in free and the spokesman said: “We will release more information soon.”
