New Deputy Chief Constable Will Kerr was sworn in today at Police Scotland’s Headquarters at Tulliallan Castle by Justice of the Peace, Gillian Thomson prior to taking up his role overseeing the service’s local policing provision.
DCC Kerr comes to Police Scotland with 28 years’ experience as a police officer, transferring from a secondment to the National Crime Agency (NCA), where he fulfilled the role of Director of Vulnerabilities. This saw him assuming strategic responsibility for leading and coordinating law enforcement response to Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking and Organised Immigration Crime, as well as leading on partnership relationships in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Prior to his secondment to the NCA DCC Kerr served with the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) up to and including the rank of Assistant Chief Constable. His extensive experience includes undertaking the remit of ACC Urban (Belfast) Region, overseeing the policing of all major events, including parades and marches, and his last role was as Head of Crime Operations, encompassing Serious Crime and Counter Terrorism.

In addition he has been published in the Edinburgh Evening News and the Hibernian FC Programme.
