A police investigation is underway after a 40-year-old woman was knocked down by a bus in Princes Street at the Mound around 11.30am this morning.

She was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with head injuries.

A police spokeswoman said: “Inquiries into the full circumstances of this incident are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.”

The road was closed eastbound for around an hour as emergency services were at the scene.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We dispatched a paramedic response unit and one ambulance to the scene.

“One female patient was transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.”
