Police are appealing for information following a break-in and significant theft from a golfing business in the Swanston area.
The incident took place between 8pm on Saturday 26th and 7.30am on Sunday 27th July, when a portable building-type container in Swanston Road was broken into.
Around £70,000 worth of golfing and computer equipment was stolen from within the container, which is currently being used by Scott Gourlay Golf Technology.
This includes a TrackMan, described as a small orange computer-like device used in the custom-fitting process, and various drivers, shafts and iron heads from a number of brands.
PC Chris Greer of Edinburgh’s Community Investigation Unit said: “As part of our investigation, we’re asking anyone who may have information about this incident, or the current whereabouts of the stolen items, to contact us as soon as possible.
“All of the pieces which were stolen are used in the custom-fitting process and are fitted with a plastic cap, which would require some force to remove, and we’re urging anyone who may have been offered one of these items to get in touch immediately.
“If you buy stolen items, either knowingly or otherwise, they will be returned to their original owner if recovered. This means a financial loss and potentially further police action for yourself.
“Always ask for proof of ownership when buying from a second-hand seller and, if they cannot provide this, do not purchase any items and report concerns to police.”
Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0790 of 27th July, or report this anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
