The very first DuoDay is being supported by Asda Chesser. This is a day of action to promote the role of disabilities in the workplace.
The day is being hosted by the Scottish Union of Supported Employment (SUSE), with ENABLE Scotland as a Supported Employment provider.
Asda Chesser has worked with ENABLE Scotland for several years and in particular they have helped Erin Gordon, who has been diagnosed with social anxiety and learning difficulties, to secure her first full time job with the supermarket after leaving school.
Erin now works on the pizza counter at Asda Chesser and says she is thrilled to celebrate two years of working at the store.
Commenting on her milestone anniversary, Erin, said: “I just want to say a huge thank you to ENABLE Scotland and Asda Chesser. Thanks to their help and support, my confidence has really grown and I always look forward to coming into my shifts at work.
“I’d definitely encourage anyone in a similar position to me to research opportunities available for support with employment.”
Thomas Seymour, Team Facilitator at ENABLE Scotland, added: “This year’s DuoDay is a great opportunity to highlight how small adjustments and an understanding employer can make such a big impact!
“The colleagues at Asda Chesser have been dedicated to supporting Erin since day one. We work closely with the store to ensure she has all the support measures in place to allow her to focus on the areas of work which are suited to her best.”
James Duncan, who manages Erin in store, said: “Erin is a fantastic asset to the team and does a brilliant job. She has an incredible work ethic and the perfect personality for customer service, so we’re thrilled to be celebrating her two year anniversary with the team here.”
