Hibs’ Head Coach Neil Lennon has praised his players after last night’s comprehensive 3-0 victory at Rugby Park, the teams third win in the last seven days.

Although he admitted that the score-line flatter his team, Lennon insists that Hibs deserved to win the game which has catapulted them into third place ahead of Motherwell and Rangers.

The fact that Hibs have taken nine points without key players has encouraged the Northern Irishman and he is now looking forward to Saturday’s home game against struggling Dundee at Easter Road.

After the game a delighted Lennon told Hibernian TV:  The players have been fantastic. The quality of the football is exceptional. It’s been a really hard week.

“We came to a team that are on the up and they played well so it shows how far we have come.

“I think 3-0 flattered us. Killie deserved to score at least once tonight but we thoroughly deserved to win the game.

“Three magnificent goals as well. David Gray did a great job coming in for Steven and set up two goals. It was a great cross for the first one and a beautiful cross for the second so I am absolutely delighted.

“The first goal was breath-taking, a brilliant header and a great cross and then we have hit the post and that would have made it a lot more comfortable.

“Simon Murray, I love those goals. A tap in and he always seems to be in the right place.  It will do him good and he played well. All over the park we looked really assured. The centre halves were phenomenal as well.

“And I have to make a special mention to our goalkeeper as well. He had an amazing save from Boyd which was similar to Craig Gordon’s at Celtic Park. whatever he had to do he did it well. He looks really the goalkeeper that we all knew he is now. He is really on top of his game.

“We have a few bumps and bruises in terms of depth. Stokey’s still out and Danny and the two centre halves.

“Stokey’s a top player and hopefully he will come back and make us better. If you look at the stats, he is always in and around things, scoring goals,  so to be playing as well as we have without him is encouraging. The front three have been magnificent and the full-backs as well in fact all over the park we have been playing brilliantly.”
