Pauline Hamill has been appointed as Youth Performance Pathway Manager and Women’s Under-19s head coach, taking over from Gareth Evans who was in charge of the team for four years.
Hamill enjoyed an illustrious international playing career, being the first Scottish woman to become a centurion for her country and went on to reach 141 caps, scoring 29 goals with her last cap coming in 2010.
That year she began her coaching journey, being in charge of the Women’s Under-17s and led the team to two European Championships in 2013 and earlier this year in 2017.
She is currently undergoing her UEFA Pro Licence with the aim of possessing the qualification next year.
Scotland Women’s Under-19s have recently returned from the European Championships in Northern Ireland where they narrowly missed out on qualification to the semi-finals.
Hamill will take a 25 player squad on Wednesday at Oriam for a two day training camp before they turn their focus to two September friendlies away to Croatia.
They will then travel to Hungary for the Euro Qualifying round where they will play three matches against the hosts, Armenia and Turkey in October.

“I know a lot of the players through my previous roles with the association and can’t wait to help them continue to develop.
“There are a lot of young promising players who have recently come through the age ranks such as Erin Cuthbert who impressed for the national team at Euro 2017.
“We have a tough challenge ahead in October in our Elite Qualifying round across in Hungary, against three strong teams but we will be well prepared for the games.”

“She has been instrumental in developing our most talented female youth players and has experience of working with all youth squads in the past, guiding them through their performance journey.
“She knows the players well and will be able to hit the ground running ahead of the upcoming matches as the team aim to qualify for their second successive European Championships.
“Pauline has a great depth of knowledge about the women’s game in Scotland and is ideally suited to develop the under-19s and continue the good work done by Gareth Evans.”
