Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Livingston which took place around 9pm on Wednesday in Deans North Road.
A 15-year-old boy was walking past the bus stop on Deans North Road, near to Harburn Avenue, when he was approached from behind by a group of youths and hit to the head with a bottle. As a result, he fell to the ground where the group continued to assault him.
Following the attack the victim was assisted by a female member of the public and subsequently contacted police. Officers are now urging anyone who can assist with their inquiries to come forward.
The suspects are described only as being around 15-years-old.
Detective Constable Jo McCall from Livingston CID, said, “This was an extremely violent attack that left the young victim requiring hospital treatment for injuries to his head.”
“We are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and remembers seeing anything suspicious, especially to any passing motorists who witnessed the incident and may be able to help us identify those responsible.
“In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation is also urged to get in touch.”
