Former St Louis Blues draft pick Ian Schultz hit a glory treble as bottom-of-the-table Edinburgh Capitals skated to a 6-3 win at Murrayfield over arch rivals Fife Flyers.

The Kirkcaldy club were 2-0 ahead thanks to goals from Seb Thinel after 28 seconds and Russ Moyer after nearly three minutes.

Schultz opened his and Capitals’ account after six minutes but Carlo Finucci made it 3-1 two minutes later.
Capitals bounced back again through Matt Tipoff with 28 seconds left of the opening session and then they hit Fife hard with four unanswered goals, two in each period.

Jacob johnston slotted home after 22 minutes to level at 3-3 and Schultz on the power play put the home side ahead for the first time four minutes after that.

Karel Hromas on the power play and Schultz also when Fife were a man short made it 6-3 after 41 minutes and 55 minutes.
