Police have appealed for witnesses after a 71-year-old man was injured in a road traffic collision this morning in Dalry Road.

The road was closed for over three hours as officers dealt with the incident.

The man was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries.

A police spokesman said:“Police in Edinburgh were called to Dalry Road following a serious road traffic collision on Saturday 20 August.

“The collision took place shortly before 10am and involved a silver Proton Satria and a male pedestrian.

“The 71-year-old sustained serious head injuries and has been taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

“The road was closed until around 1.30pm and the public are thanked for their patience during this time.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101.”
