Police are appealing for information after a number of vehicles were damaged on the city bypasss between 1.30am and 2am on Friday 26 February when objects were thrown from the Baberton flyover (Lanark Road West).
Thankfully, no one was injured but this caused extensive damage to the windscreens and bodies of at least 7 cars and HGVs that were travelling east and westbound on the A720.
Inspector Liz Duthie of Oxgangs said: “This was completely reckless and showed a total disregard for the safety of travelling motorists. Officers attended at the time and utilised local and specialist resources to conduct searches in the area, however enquiries continue to trace the perpetrators.
“There will be an increase in high visibility patrols in this area for the foreseeable future to deter any further incidents and we’re asking anyone with information, or who may have seen anyone in the area of the flyover around this time, to come forward.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or make an anonymous report through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
