Another person has been arrested and charged with drug offences in the Scottish Borders as part of the ongoing Operation Gatekeeper.

Officers carried out an intelligence-led search of an address in Galashiels on Monday 28th March where dealer quantities of heroin was recovered along with a number of diazepam tablets and other drug related items.

A 28-year-old man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and appear in court at a later date.

Detctive Inspector David Fyvie from the Lothians and Scottish Borders Proactive Unit said: “Operation Gatekeeper was launched to tackle all forms of drug crime across the Scottish Borders and actively target those responsible for the production and distribution of harmful substances.

“Once again, vital information from the public resulted in the successful recovery of heroin and a male will face drug charges at court.

“We will continue to work alongside our relevant partner agencies and local communities to identify those responsible for drug crime and bring them to justice.
