An investigation is underway after a woman was sexually assaulted at Greyfriars Kirkyard, just off George IV Bridge on Thursday night.
Detective carried out a forensic examination of the area and witnesses are being sought.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We are currently investigating a report of sexual assault within Greyfriars Kirkyard during the evening of Thursday, January 21.
“Anyone with information that can assist with this ongoing investigation is asked to contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
