We are advised by our man on the scene that it was a chimney pot which fell from the building occupied by Suruci and Subway opposite the Festival Theatre onto the bus smashing a window and causing injury to a passenger.
Nicolson Street and Drummond Street from South Bridge are closed to traffic.
Our photos were taken at 2.30 this afternoon and you can see that the street remains closed while the roof is being checked over.
A crane with a cherry picker is being used to hoist a workman up to roof level which must be a little scary given the high winds in the city right now.
@EdinTravel are keeping drivers in the city up to date on Twitter.
NICOLSON STREET – will remain closed at Festival Theatre until further notice due to fallen masonry that happened this morning. #edintravel
