[tweet_box design=”default”]Nicolson Street remains closed this afternoon after an incident just after 9.30 a.m. involving a piece of masonry which fell on a bus.[/tweet_box]

We are advised by our man on the scene that it was a chimney pot which fell from the building occupied by Suruci and Subway opposite the Festival Theatre onto the bus smashing a window and causing injury to a passenger.

Nicolson Street and Drummond Street from South Bridge are closed to traffic.

Our photos were taken at 2.30 this afternoon and you can see that the street remains closed while the roof is being checked over.

A crane with a cherry picker is being used to hoist a workman up to roof level which must be a little scary given the high winds in the city right now.

@EdinTravel are keeping drivers in the city up to date on Twitter.

Steven Godden of the BBC got this shot of the Number 5 bus.

The Festival Theatre is closed and you are advised to try the Box Office at the King’s if you need to buy tickets
